Swacch Bharat Swacch Vidayalaya Campaign

MHRD has decided to launch the Swacch Vidyalaya Campaign from 25.9.2014 to 31.10.2014. GSSS, Raipur Khurd, being a part of the campaign organized the cleanliness in a befitting manner.

It was decided to continue Swacch Vidyalaya Abhiyan beyond 31st oct. upto 15th Aug. 2015 by organizing film-shows, periodic activities and competitions. Distancing ourselves from unhygienic conditions are very important, specially in the initial years of schooling. The school will always participate enthusiastically in this endeavor and will be committed in undertaking innovative activities and imbibing the spirit of hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation.

Celebration of Teachers’ Day

Teacher’s Day was celebrated in a new, panoramic and eventful way in Govt. Senior Secondary School, Raipur Khurd UT,Chandigarh. The school was on its toes for the arrangements for the live telecast of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India   Mr.Narendra Damodardas Modi’s speech. Maximum attendance was ensured. To make the day a pleasant memory, a few cultural items were presented by the students. Teachers also shared their views & feelings. Special arrangements were made for the day. Proper seating arrangement for the students and telecast arrangement with the help of DTH, Internet were made. Refreshment was given to the students.

The Prime Minister also had an interactive session with the students present in the auditorium and also through video conference. The speech culminated at 4:45pm. It proved a grand success. The students watched the telecast with great interest and zeal.  


Activities on Biodiversity Conservation (under NEAC 2013-14)

Punjab State Council for Science and Technology sponsored different activities in U.T’s govt. schools under NEAC 2013-14 on theme Biodiversity Conservation. Hence GSSS Raipur Khurd UT Chandigarh organized the various activities on the theme Conservation of Bio diversity like Lecture on “Importance of Biodiversity”, Establishment of kitchen garden, Rally on “environmental crisis”, Poster-making competition, Paper-reading contest on environment and Biodiversity. Documentary on “Biodiversity” was shown to the students.

Mr. Somesh, subject expert and the representative of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology visited the school for invigilating over the activities. He spoke to the children about biodiversity .All the students participated in these activities with great enthusiasm.SAM_2176

Science Exhibition (12th & 13th Aug. 2014)

A two-day science exhibition was held in GSSS Raipur khurd, Chandigarh from 12.08.2014 to 13.08.2014 as an activity of the Science Club of the school. Different models and projects were made showing different concepts like global warming, types of pollution, bio-diversity, women empowerment, increasing population, trends in education etc. the students showed their best in this activity. scc

Holiday Home Camp at Sadhu Pul(Himachal Pradesh)

Holiday Home Society in collaboration with the Social Welfare and Educational Department U.T. Administration Chandigarh organized free Holiday Home Camp for school children at Sadhupul Himachal Pradesh dated: 15.08.2014 to 18.08.2014.

                                Education Department Chandigarh Administration permitted various Govt. School of U.T. Chandigarh to attend this camp and Govt. Sr. Sec. School Raipur Khurd was also one of them.

Inter House Competition on Best out of Waste was held on 21st May, 2014. Many students from all the three houses – HIMGIRI-TARAGIRI- DHAULAGIRI participated in the contest. Beautiful things out of the waste material were made by them. The material they used comprised of the waste wool, thermocol pieces, news papers, buttons, waste plastic bottles, colored paper etc. The students, very creatively, showed their talent. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were declared. The school Principal Mrs. Neena Kalia congratulated the winners and appreciated their performance. The competition helped to reveal the creativity of the students in a beautiful manner.20140521-002



Election Awareness Campaign (7th April, 2014)

As an important part of the ongoing election process, awareness campaign were held by GSSS Raipur Khurd to make earnest efforts to motivate voters of village Raipur Khurd Chandigarh. A rally-cum-awareness campaign was organized by school students, staff and awareness group of villagers. The students motivated the villagers to use their right to vote and be an important part of democracy. The villagers were guided not to cast their vote under any kind of influence and instead use their own rationality.Pamphlets were printed and pasted in different areas of the village. The students took a pledge daily in the morning assembly that they would encourage their parents to cast their vote on 10th April, 2014 intelligently. A speech was imparted by the school Principal Mrs. Neena Kalia on the importance of  election. Earth Day Celebration (22nd April to 28th April, 2014)

The World Earth Day was celebrated in Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Raipur Khurd from 22nd April to 28th April, 2014. Different activities ornamented the celebration. As a salute to our Mother Earth, a number of events like Poster- Making Competition and Paper Reading Context for Junior Wing and Quiz, Lecture by teachers and a Skit for the Senior Wing students were held. Nukkar Nattak on the theme “Grow More Trees” was presented in the village Raipur Khurd by the students of Class 8th A to sensitizes the villagers about environmental issues. All the activities related to the themes concerning conservation and protection of natural beauties of the Earth. Issues like abolition of polythene, global warming, recycling of waste products, tree plantation etc. were highlighted. The school Principal Mrs. Neena Kalia advised the students to save energy and water by switching off the lights and fans when not required and by stopping the overflowing of water.
